Catalonia is a region vinícola from always and has 11 denominations of origin of wine, in addition to the D.Or. It digs.
The digs is one of the most known wines of our region. It treats , of a wine espumoso elaborated with the method “champenoise”, the used in the French region of Champagne, thus, during a lot of years was our champagne. The denomination Digs, adopts in 1972 to differentiate these espumosos of the elaborated in France.
Practically all the digs produced in our country, elaborates in Catalonia and specifically in the region of the Penedés.
We propose them a visit to the Penedés, to some 45 minutes of Barcelona, where concentrate many of our cellars.
This zone, is the headquarters of some of the producers of wine and of dig bigger and international of the country like the cellars Torres with wines recognised, or the ones of digs like Freixenet or Codorniu. But also we have a lot of familiar cellars, small minor production but with wines and dig extraordinary.
